Hoping to create my life and home to the best of my perfectionistic (so not a word but I like it) style.

While in Connecticut...

Just a hop, skip and a jump from my besties house was an old house that I'm sure was beautiful back in it's time. Here's a picture of it. OH, If I had the money to restore it back to it's natural beauty.

It has the perfect green double doors and a few days later the owner had cleared some of the brush from in front and had the (yes, I'll say it again) perfect concrete stairs leading to it.

It's been a while

Hi all, I'm back from Connecticut. I had a most excellent time with my bestie. I was there for 3 1/2 wks. Definitely didn't want to come home but hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right? Right. We were able to catch up on our shopping that we missed out on. We went to Sephora. I spent entirely too much money there but I must say that their products are definitely worth it. I bought the Perricone MD products. All i have to say about this is that it's WONDERFUL!! My skin feels so much better since I have started using it. Anyway, enough of that :o)

We went to IKEA. OMG, I love love love this store! We went twice. First time we were there we were there for 5 hrs, the second time we were there for 3 hrs. I told the hubs about IKEA. We went yesterday :o) I finally bought the bed that they have there. It's fantabulous! I can't wait to put it up.

We painted her entryway. It was an awesome pale beachy peach color. It's called Pirates Cove Beach by Benjamin Moore. I have decided that is the color I'm painting my bedroom. Won't it go wonderfully with my new bed? Yeah, that's what I thought. :o)

OOOOH yeah I almost forgot. Even though I don't know how I could because the store, Restoration Hardware, is totally friggen awesome. It is a bit pricey though. I also found a beautiful color I'm thinking of putting on my living room walls. It's called Silver Sage. The link shows it just a bit darker than it is. Oh if I could only win the lottery to shop there. Hey, a girl can dream. :o)

I'm gonna go for now. I gotta clean my room ;o)

TTFN!!

My new "bauble"

Yesterday the hubs and I went to Kohl's. He needed a new pair of shoes for work. So, naturally, I went to look around. Look what I found...

I'm totally lovin' this! It was 50% off! I bought it. I put it on my mantle. Yeah, not gonna show y'all that. I have no experience in mantle-scaping. But, anyway, it will (hopefully) go with what I decide to do with my living room once I get back from Connecticut.

Another thing....

I don't know if I mentioned that I am a grandma or not. Yeah, I am. I must share this with you.
Last weekend we (hubs and I) went fishing with my oldest son (hubs adopted him when he was 5) and his family. We were at Dillon Lake and son and hubs decided to go somewhere near the dam to fish so we (my daughter in law and grandkids), there's a lot of yours mine and ours in the family. My grandson, who will be 5 in July, was sitting on my lap cuddled in my jacket with me and asked "mamaw (sp?), why do you call me boogerbutt?" This is a nickname that just came to me on the day that he was born. I don't know why because it has nothing to do with boogers or butts LOL. So, I told him that it was what I called him from the day that he was born and he said "oh, ok. You're my boogerbutt." Then he told me he loved me and gave me a kiss. That is one of the best days I have had in a long time. It's right up there with the birth of my boys and the birth of my grandson. Need I say more? Here is a picture of him. I love him so much that my heart just feels like bursting out of my chest.
Isn't he the cutest?

I forgot to mention...

I forgot to mention that I have a St. Bernard. I would like to know if anyone has done any decorating in the shabby beachy cottage chic style with a small "horse" in your house. :o)

Sorry...

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't posted for a few days. I've been trying to soak up the sun to get a little bit of color to these white legs of mine before I head out to Connecticut to my besties house. I'm so excited :o) I leave in 2 weeks. YAY!!!!

I have yet to finish my end table. I'm finishing it to look like the coffee table that I refinished. Once I get my end tables finished I'm going to build a sofa table with a top that I got from an old old barn that was torn down. It needs some major sanding but I hope to eventually get it to look like my coffee table. I did make a little table a while ago. I think it looks pretty good for the first time.

I used 1/4 inch plywood for the top. 2 leftover spindles for the front legs and 2 pieces of scrap wood for the back then dry brushed with a white called Table Linen from Behr. The back legs look a little wonky but I think it gives it charm. That's me and my bestie in the pic the day before she left for Connecticut :o(.

Eventually, this is what I want my blog to be about... Refinishing, creating and everything in between. I will probably be all over the place with things that I do because I do a lot of things. When I get bored with one, I do something else.
I would love to know how all the women whose blogs I read does this all the time. I wish I had the gumption they do or if they don't have the gumption... HEY! How about sharing the love and tell me what's your secret :o)

So, I've been using Google Chrome. It's loads pretty fast. I have yet to figure out if I like it or not. I was totally going somewhere with this but I'll be damned if I can remember....

I'm watching Good Morning America, they're getting ready to do one of their concerts. Bret Michaels and Miley Cyrus are going to be on. Hmmm, who ever thought those two would ever be on stage together :-D

I'm gonna go for a bit, TTYL!

Remember...

Remember the coffee table I told you about? The one I refinished? I put the pictures on my computer and I'm ready to upload. This is the before and during sanding.

This is the after...

What I did for the top is I stained it as usual but rather than using a polyurethane or some kind of finish like that, I used wax instead. I love the look. I, myself, thinks it looks great. I believe it gives it more of an aged look. Of course, it needs to be "babied" more. You know how hard it is to get your hubs or your kid to use a coaster? I'm sure you do :o)

I would really love to "hear" your opinions or, if you done something like this, tips of how to keep it looking good. Shoot me a comment please. Thanks! :o)

So jealous

Ok, as y'all know I've been blog hopping. I am so jealous of the kitchens that I've been seeing. I need to get my butt busy. I would post the pictures I collected but I can't remember for the life of me where they came from so I won't post.

I've got this buffet that needs to be re-done but it has that wood veneer on it. At least, that's what I think it is. I'll be right back. I'm gonna take pictures and put them up. I promise. Let me know what y'all think about it. BRB.

I'm back with the pictures....

So what do you think? Do I remove the veneer and paint white? Or just leave as is? I want to eventually put this in my kitchen. But, right now my bird cages are there.
This is Haley...

And this is Bam...

Know what....?

I don't understand why most beach cottage blog sites come from Australia. Don't get me wrong, I love Australia and hope to go there one day but we have beaches, too. :o)

Does anyone have any good links to any "how to" blogs of how to decorate and... well crap, I can't think of how I need to say what I want. I mean, I love vintage decor, cottage decor, vintage beach decor, flea market and thrifty decor. I guess what I'm trying to say is, does anyone have any good tutorial sites on how to do this kind of stuff? Or even how to place things. You see, when it comes to decorating, I have NO IDEA of how to do it. I can't even place my furniture right. It stinks :o)

I live in central Ohio. I've done so many searches of (what is it called...) architectural scrap places, I guess. I can't find any. There's a lot of thrift stores and I plan on going to those but I would love to go to one of those "stores". It's architetural salvage yard! YAY ME!! Oh, and I hate going to yard sales. When my sister and I were little our mom would drag us from yard sale to yard sale. A friend of mine loves it and gets many great things from them. I guess I need to get away from the "hate to" and just go.

If anyone can help me out I would love it. :o)

It's been a looooong time

Well, here I am again. I just don't know what to do with a blog or know how people do this day after day. I've been looking at so many blogs and have gotten so many ideas of what to do with my house.

I've been refinishing my living room tables and I simply adore them! I finished my coffee table and now working on an end table. When I get my pictures put on my computer (hubby built me a new one) I'll post them, PLEASE if anyone is reading this would you leave me a comment and let me know what you think? I would really love that.

I'm gonna go for now...

TTFN!
Tammy

HELP....

I need help.

Period

Today has been a shitty day. I'm just tired of it all. I need to go to my bestie's house but I got 3 1/2 months to go. :*o(

Certain types of blogs.

I have been trying to find certain types of blogs. You know the ones, the crafty, shabby chic, beachy, cottage type. I'm at a loss, I've searched to my little hearts content and have found nothing that I want. Is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction? Is there a webring or something like that that has a list of types of blogs? Just wondering and needing some ideas on how to decorate my house.

My Craft Room

I am definitely working on my craft room today. I really need to get it done so that I can get the rest of the stuff built. Either me or hubby are going to put in a really nice L shaped desk and then put up more shelves. I would really love to have some of those JetMax cubes  from Michael's. That'll never happen. Hubby won't pay $30/cube. I'm sure we, he, or me could make something similar. I just want my room to be pretty, know what I mean? Here's a picture of what my room looks like now.

It's a mess, huh? Oh, see that blue dresser? I re-done that. It was horrible looking. I painted it and replaced the original dresser hardware with porcelain knobs and also put some wallies on it. It's not that bad.

Anyway, there's this scrapbooking forum I go to at Scrapbook.com that has a gallery of so many gorgeous rooms. Mine will never look like any of them cuz I don't have an eye for decorating at all. I'm hopeless. LOL

I need to get busy. TTFN! XOXOXO

A Purpose?

Ya know, I wish I had some purpose in life. I go on day to day doing random stuff and I feel as if it really doesn't matter. Sometimes I sit on my ass and do nothing. Unfortunately I am one of many that suffer from depression. I know I have things to do but I just can't bring myself to do anything. Like right now I'm feeling a little worthless. This is so hard to deal with but I've been dealing with it for years. So, life goes on.
One bright thing that happened last night is my hubby bought my ticket to Connecticut so I can visit with my bestie. I'm sure I've talked about her. I've had best friends before but no one is like Paula. It's funny cuz she's a girly girl and I'm not. She has tried to make me a girly girl and has won to an extent. I'm now addicted to handbags (Dooney & Bourke is my fave) and shoes. I've become addicted to boots (love Steve Madden). This is all so funny to me because just 10 years ago, before I moved to the city (I lived in hicksville central), I knew nothing of this. I never carried a purse. The only thing I carried with me was my drivers license and some cash. The only time I carried anything that resembled a purse was when my boys were in diapers and I had to carry a diaper bag. The only shoe that I knew was a sneaker. I wore Reeboks. But anyway, I love her and I miss her sooooo much. I know I'm repeating myself just like Dr. Oz, for some reason he's a re-run. Who knows....

So, as I was saying, do I really have a purpose? I take care of my many animals. I don't know if they're the only ones that really need me. My hubby needs me every third day to get him up in the morning so he can go to work. He needs me to make his iced tea cuz he can't make it taste as good as I can. Yeah right, he just doesn't want to get up and get it himself. Then I have my 20 year old son. I bawled my eyes out when he turned 18. It's funny cuz I didn't do that when my oldest (he's 26) turned 18. My "baby" still hugs me and tells me he loves me. My oldest does that when he visits. I don't know why I'm so attached to him. Maybe it is because he's the "baby". Shit, I don't know.

I gotta get dressed. TTFN!! XOXOXO

What should I get into today?

Today I think I might paint my scraproom. It's a very pretty pink. It's called Powder Pink by Glidden.
Here's a pic of my room and also the shelving system my hubby made me. Hold on, gotta find it first.

Awesome, huh?? Yeah, I think so too. I think I'll keep him around for a little while longer :o). I think my next project for him is to be this Farm Bed that can be seen at Knock Off Wood.  Why don't you jump on over there and tell Ana how awesome she is.

OK, Imma gonna go jump on the elliptical and watch some Dr. Oz (love him) then figure out what I'm gonna do. XOXOXO!!!

It's Sunday

I'm watching Jack Hanna's into the Wild and then my favorite Sunday morning show Sunday Morning. I love Charles Osgood. I don't know why, I just do. I'm sewing the bags today. I know I said I was doing it yesterday but hubby wanted me to go with him to get a new rotor for the truck. She (the truck) is 11 years old and is slowly dying but hubby just keeps taking her to the doctor to fix her up. Hey that's ok. She's paid for.TTFN XOXOXO

What I'm Getting Into Today

Today I'm going to be making cloth bags for the guys at the fire department who are on the s.w.a.t. team. These are for their gas masks. I've already made one and that's for hubby.
Yesterday we went and looked at motorcycles. One in particular to be exact. Hubby just sold his Yamaha Roadstar a few days ago. Ever since he seen the Venture, he decided that is the bike he wants. He's also thinking about me cuz of the seat on the back. Here's a picture, it looks exactly like the one we're looking at.

Isn't it pretty? The picture doesn't do it justice. Anyway, if hubby gets approved for the loan we'll be picking it up and my sewing will be interrupted once again. Such is life, right? Also, if he gets approved he'll be buying my plane ticket to Connecticut. YAY!!!! The money I'll be making from the bags will be my spending money. I'll make about $30-$35 per bag. Cha Ching$$$$, right?? :o)

Ok, I gotsta go take a shower! TTFN!!! XOXOXOX

Is There...

Such a style called Flea Market Shabby Chic? I'm gonna hafta find out. If there is, that's awesome. If there isn't, I'm gonna hafta create it.  I'm off to do some research.

Grrrrr

This morning has been shitty. Well I really shouldn't say shitty maybe pissy. Is pissy less mad than shitty? Ok, I'm gonna say it is. I won't go into the details.

I really wanna know how I can turn this into 3 columns. I'm not sure if this is classic or the other. I went to a site and it said that I can find out on the dashboard in the upper left hand corner. UMMMM there's nothing there!!! I don't know if there is anyone reading this, but if there is, could you possibly tell me how to do it?

Shabby Chic

I love it. IDK if hubby is going to like it or not but hey I do the decorating or at least try to. I've been trying to find a queen metal headboard cuz I really don't want to strip my headboard or sand it down and paint it white. I don't know where any flea markets are (I'm in central Ohio). I would love to go to Mt.Vernon and walk downtown and go to the many antique shops there but it's too cold right now :o).

This blog is kinda funny cuz it's not about decorating at all. I should just call it a bitch session and I get to blow off steam. My best friend, Paula, isn't here so I can't go to her. I am saving my cash so I can buy a plane ticket to Connecticut. I can't wait. I miss her so much. I need my girl/bitch session time and there's no one for me. Boo fucking hoo to me, right? Well shit, I don't make friends that easily. There is Melinda, we haven't hung out since our husbands quit working the same shift. They're firefighters at different stations. Anyway, she won't go anywhere unless he's working. Then when she calls me, she has called a total of 3 times in 6 or 7 months and one time was a mistake. She got the wrong Tammy. Go figure. But anyway, that is that. I need to go find something to do but I really don't want to.....
OMG I forgot something. Kate Goslin (or however you spell it). She needs to learn how to smile and not be so FAKE about it. It was announced last night that she was going to be on Dancing with the Stars. So over her, period.

WTF??

I've been blog hopping. I'm wondering why am I being sent to sites that I can't read??? They're in foreign languages (yes, languages plural). I only know english. How is it that you can get only certain types of blogs? Say I want to see types of DIY stuff? How do I find it, other than using a search engine. Sometimes search engines suck. You search for the exact thing you want and maybe the first two sites are what you want and then everything below that is different. I know about searching for exact things in quotes. Usually nothing comes up but "try searching without quotes".
Oh well, off I go on another blog hunt. Wish me luck. :o)

You know when you decorate in that shabby chic style and then there's that perfect blue-green or aqua color? I see it all the time on those shabby sites but I can never find it. Or how bout that grayish bluish color that the designers on HGTV use? Shit, what's his name? Hold on, I'll go find it... David Bromstad (love, love, love him!!!). He always uses that perfect color. I'll find it. Whenever I go to Home Depot or Lowes I look. I know my hubby gets irritated with me. He always says "no point in looking if we haven't bought the house yet". I like to look and look and look.....

Ok, I just seen something hilarious! My cat, Katt, just used the litter box. OMG!! He balanced all four feet on the edge of the box and took a, well, a number two, too be polite about it. As soon as I can find my cord I'll put the pic up for you (yeah, I had to take a pic) :o)

Alrighty then...

I'm finally figuring out how to do this blog stuff. Soon enough I'll be able to put a picture with my header. We'll see how that goes. I'm still learning, so if by chance you come upon my blog by way of a search engine or what ever place you come from, don't be harsh ok? Thanks, I appreciate it. :o)

I use to create websites when I was younger. I figured out how to do my backgrounds, links, images and so forth in html without having to copy and paste. So I should be able to do this with no problem...ummm yeah right. Did I mention I did it when I was younger. Yeah, I think I did. It's now a little less than 20 years later that I'm doing this. So we'll see how this goes.

I'm gonna go learn some more. Keep a watch out and see what I can do. :o)

OMG!

This whole blog thing is messing me up. I try to change something and try to put things in columns but it just isn't working!!! How in the hell does this work? I want to put things in that I like and add pictures and links of my fave blogs and I'll be damned if I can't do it. I'll be back in a little bit. I need a break. I don't think that often... j/k I use to know how to do this, well I use to know how to do html in web pages. But that was looooong ago. Ok, I'll be back later.
